First Week of Updates

The first big event of the series was Event 05-KO: $25 GGMasters Sunday Bounty Edition. While it does share the biggest buy-in for any event in the microFestival series, it also has one of the biggest guarantees at $150,000. The event started on Sunday, June 23rd and took nearly 11 hours for the 8,598 players to play down to a winner. At the end of the event, it was Brazillian ‘luckytimber’ capturing the victory and earning $8,225.25 plus $6,485.65 in bounties from the total prize pool of $204,202.50.

A few hours later, another $100K+ event started. Event 07-KO: $15 Bounty Hunters Sunday Grand Slam offered a $125,000 guarantee in a Progressive KO format as part of the microFestival. The $15 buy-in was engaging enough to attract 11,549 players and created a $164,573.25 prize pool. Taking 11 hours and 20 minutes to complete, it was a Brazillian again claiming victory. This time, ‘Niissombra’ was the last player standing, having earned $5,283.99 in bounties to boost the $5,899.98 earned for the victory.

The biggest non-bounty event completed as part of the microFestival thus far was Event 05: NLH: $25 GGMasters Sunday Special Edition. This tournament teased the players with a $100,000 guarantee, and 5,195 poker players joined to create a total prize pool of $119,485. The tournament ended 9 hours and 45 minutes later when ‘FRIENDOFVOODOO’ defeated ‘Eshiokawa’ and earned $12,742.84.

Event 07-NLH: $15 Sunday Hundred Grand, with a $100,000 guarantee, ran concurrently with the Bounty Hunters Grand Slam. This event brought 7,032 players to the tables, ready to compete. With the number of players not exceeding the guaranteed threshold, the tournament ran with an overlay of almost $3,000, creating even more excitement for the players. Just 6 minutes past the 11th hour of play, the tournament finally ended with ‘Iamshow12’ defeating Mikhail Lukyanov to earn $10,179.32.

The biggest of the Pot Limit Omaha events for the microFestival series thus far was Event 07-PLO: Sunday Omaholic Bounty Main Event. This $20,000 Guaranteed tournament attracted 1,542 players, creating a prize pool of $21,973.50. The last bounty hunter was defeated by ‘Nav123’, who earned the victory and $2,463, including $1,522.90 in bounties, for the effort.

The other big Omaha tournament was Event 05-PLO: $25 Omaholic Classic. Offering a $15,000 guarantee on a $25 buy-in only attracted 628 players, creating a $671 overlay, which was great for the players. It took ‘bodasan’ just over 7 hours to claim victory in this event and earn the top prize of $2,565.60.

One more tournament that deserves mention is Event 06-KO: $5.40 Bounty Hunters Sunday Main. This low buy-in tournament, which offered a guarantee of $55,000, brought 14,317 players to the felt, creating a prize pool of $73,446.21, well over the guarantee. With a starting stack of 25,000, it took just 9 hours and 42 minutes for one player to accumulate all 357,925,000 chips. That one player remaining behind a wall of virtual chips was ‘TurnAroundAgain’. Having claimed the victory, ‘TurnAroundAgain’ had earned $2,782.60 plus $2,221.65 in bounties for a few hours of work on a Sunday.
