The First Weekend of Bracelet Events
With the first weekend of the WSOP Online in the books, it is time to look at who has written themselves into the history books. Three bracelet events have been completed each by a player from a different country as everyone fights to be part of the biggest country freeroll, not to mention the extra funds from the Continental Flipouts. But enough of that, lets get to the action.
Event #1: 5th Annual WSOP Kick-Off [Bounty]
The WSOP Online started off even bigger than expected with 3,369 players joining in the excitement and racing for the first bracelet in this $500 buy-in event. This multi-day 1 bounty tournament had just 338 survive to the final day as they battled for a share of the $1,600,275 prize pool. Play was paused once the tournament was down to the final table only to resume the following day at the same time. Including the rest, the final 338 players were eventually whittled down to a winner. The champion, and winner of the first 2024 WSOP Online bracelet, earning $74,467.28 for the victory and an incredible $94,539.86 in bounties, was ‘Lemonw’ flying the Malaysian flag. With the victory, ‘Lemonw’ earned entry into the $100,000 free Continental Flipout along with every participant from the Asia-Pacific region.
Event #2: Gladiators of Poker
With a $2.5 Million guarantee and a $300 buy-in, there was no question that Event #2 would be a success. With 11,630 players joining the fun, the prize pool significantly exceeded the guarantee, settling on $3,244,770. Of the entrants, 1,178 survived to day 2 and a minimum cash of $589.68, while the top 6 all scored 6-figure amounts. At the end of the tournament, ‘R Cekalins’ flying the Latvian flag defeated Ognyan Dimov to capture the WSOP gold bracelet, $409,886.44 and put his continent into a $100,000 Flipout Freeroll.
Event #3: Bounty NLH Championship
The third and final event from the first days of the World Series of Poker Online, the $2,100 buy in Bounty No Limit Hold’em Championship. This event, which started Tuesday, August 20th, also offered a $100,000 Flipout to the winning continent, and the battle was fierce. The final table was set when Jans Arends was knocked out in 10th earning $30,631.89 including bounties, included GGMillion$ final table regular ‘A Derzhypilskyi’, who finished 2nd for $94,634.56 and $25,671.88 in bounties. The event was eventually won by poker pro Bryn Kenney for $94,635.24 plus an incredible $131,421.89 in bounties.
