The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas has been nothing short of spectacular. Day 38 was particularly thrilling as over 1,700 players chose this day to begin their journey in the prestigious $10,000 Main Event. As the weekend approaches, the excitement continues to build with more events on the horizon.

Erik Seidel Soars High on Day 1b

Erik Seidel, the legendary ten-time bracelet winner, had an exceptional run on Day 1b of the Main Event. Finishing with 183,600 chips, Seidel’s performance was nothing short of masterful. His strategic play and steady hand positioned him comfortably in the top 25 of the overnight chip counts. Seidel compared the Main Event to playing the lottery due to the massive odds, but his skill and experience certainly give him an edge.

Leading the pack was George Dolofan, who ended Day 1b with 314,000 chips. Close behind were Matthew Sabia and Patrick Hagenlocher with 297,400 and 270,300 chips respectively. These impressive stacks set the stage for a thrilling Day 2.

Georgios Skarparis and Daniel Perkusic Strike Gold

While the Main Event was the star attraction, two players quietly made headlines by securing coveted WSOP bracelets. Georgios Skarparis clinched victory in Event #78: $1,000 Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold’em, taking home $554,925.

Meanwhile, Daniel Perkusic had an even bigger payday. The German player dominated Event #79: $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha, pocketing $2,100,325. Perkusic’s win was particularly impressive given the fierce competition, which included poker heavyweights like Brian Rast, David Benyamine, Santhosh Suvarna, and Jim Collopy.

Nipun Java Eyes a Fourth Bracelet

India’s Nipun Java is on the hunt for his fourth WSOP bracelet. Java ended Day 1b of Event #80: $800 Independence Day Celebration with a formidable 1,925,000 chips, second only to William Zaiss, who bagged 2,280,000. Java’s impressive stack puts him in a strong position to add another piece of WSOP jewelry to his collection. The fast-paced structure of this event saw a staggering 3,928 entrants whittled down to just 206 survivors, all eager to battle it out on Day 2.

What’s Next at the 2024 WSOP?
